Note 1 to entry: ITS services are designed to provide benefits to ITS users, such as increasing safety, sustainability, efficiency, and comfort.

History note: 2022: Introduced in ISO/TS 14812:2022 as "functionality that fulfils one or more ITS user need" to better align with the general service terminology pattern.
History note: 2010: Introduced in ISO 21217:2010 as "functionality provided to users of intelligent transport systems designed e.g. to increase safety, sustainability, efficiency, or comfort".
