Note 1 to entry: Regulations typically allow footpaths to be used by other ultra-low-speed vehicles, such as the users of wheelchairs and strollers.

History note: 2025: Changed term to "footpath". Revised to distinguish between a footpath, which can be crossing areas, and footways, which are curvilinear and form lanes. Removed note to entry regarding British English "pavement". Revised remaining note to entry to refer to "footpaths".

escalator rising or falling stairway that assists pedestrians in vertical transitions
moving walkway footpath consisting of a conveyor belt for pedestrians Note 1 to entry: Moving walkways are often used in airports with long footpaths Note 2 to entry: Moving walkways assist pedestrians in traversing longer distances. Note 3 to entry: "Travellator" is a term used in Singapore.
