road equipment¶
component of transport infrastructure along the roadway intended to contribute to the safety, operations, management, awareness, and comfort of movements of the road users

EXAMPLE: sign, traffic signal, safety rail, gantry, bus stop structure, highway safety lighting
Note 1 to entry: ITS roadside equipment is a type of roadside equipment.
Note 2 to entry: Road equipment can be next to, over, on and/or in the roadway.
Note 3 to entry: Road equipment is sometimes referred to as "roadside equipment".
